Lexi Stapleton said... Andrew was a very knowledgeable and funny guide, and we were lucky enough to hear about his experience as a prosthetics artist on all three films. I did the full day tour- the experience would be better if the afternoon went lunch and then rivendell and the anduin, as we did eat lunch a bit late. I had lots of questions but was sat at the back of the bus, so if you are curious, try to sit more front of the bus.
The tour would be better if we went down to get photos from angles more similar to the film - several locations e.g. harcourt park we stood above the site but didn't go down into it, but this may have been because there were some older/less mobile folks in our group and the sites were down a hill. The Victoria Park sites would probably have been better done without a tour for this reason as they are on google maps and we skipped one (Frodo's reading tree) so I didn't get to see it as I flew out the next day. But the stories we heard were great.
Rivendell would have been quite underwhelming and difficult to tell, as would the Anduin, if we didn't have Andrew there to talk us through some locations. Perhaps the company needs to offer a half day tour of the second half.
Also learned some fun facts about Wellington which we wouldn't have otherwise.
