Went on the self guided walk and the boat tour, absolutely amazing. The walk takes exactly as long as they’ve predicted and does allow for stops and photos. Lake Rotomahana is amazing, you hop on the boat and get a guided tour with loads of incredible facts about the area. Was amazing, a good walk which took about 2 hours and change as we left on our walk a little early and then the boat tour took about 45 minutes and then we caught the bus back to the main hub.
The sites and scenery were picturesque. Grateful this has been made a sanctuary. We enjoyed a slow pace walk meandering through the 1st section for 2 hours. This allowed us time to really soak in the nature and get to the boat by 11:20. Daniel guided us well on the boat tip which was worth the full day experience. We then were able to soak in the remainder of the track after our boat ride. We are grateful to have taken a day to do this walk. Autumn/Winter is also a nice quiet time of the year to enjoy this special spot without too many distractions
Waimangu Volcanic Valley is a very unique place to visit. We enjoyed the drive to get there, and the boat ride and history of the area was very interesting. However the entry price is very expensive and if I hadn't booked through Book Me then we wouldn't have gone. I think the full price is disproportional to the experience.
My sister and I booked a trip at 12.45 yesterday. It was really interesting and the guide brochures were terrific. We then went on a boat trip on Lake Rotomahana right up to the mountain and saw where the pink and white Terraceswere located. Magic!

Good day out.
Had a bad start to the day with the lady who took our tickets and gave guidance telling us that the mt haszard trek walk was closed, as was a section of the main walk. She became agitated when I was checking bus times and how to get to the lake on time. It might be simple when you work there and have seen it a hundred times, but a little patience would be nice. We were the only people at reception! To be fair, every other person we met was very friendly. I was disappointed that the Mt Haszard trek was closed. We had been looking forward to that. Talking to a member of staff later, it sounds like it might be closed during winter every year - would be great to include this restriction on the promo material. Understand that the section of main track was closed for safety reasons. The walk was great, the lakes and inferno crater were amazing. The boat tour was great. The buses to get around were useful if you needed them. The day was great, we all enjoyed it. Full price seems very expensive for what you get, but we found that with a lot of the activities in rotorua. Thanks to bookme for the good deal!!
